Got Pain?   Will acupuncture  help?    ABSOLUTELY!

I am asked this question daily.  It also helps with lots of other issues, too!

Here are some other questions:

Will I feel results immediately?

Some clients say they feel differently after a treatment, however, expectations should be set and you must expect that the longer you have had an issue, the longer it will take to make a difference.  And if you want the results to be lasting, you need to treat the root and also come for maintenance treatments too.  Typically people sign up for a treatment plan block which saves them money in the long run.   This is discussed at the first appointment after the initial examination.

What is a basic treatment like?

You can be treated sitting in a chair or laying on a comfortable table (face up or face down).  Tiny, hairlike needles are inserted based on what I am treating you for.   Sometimes the needles are inserted locally (such as the low back, if you are having pain there) and sometimes the needles are inserted distally (a great treatment for the low back involves just a few needles at the region of the thumb, or on the ankles).  Often, the ear is utilized.  The needles are retained for about 20 minutes before they are removed.  The experience is generally very relaxing.  People report feeling very relaxed afterwards.

What is electroacupuncture?

The addition of electricity applied to the needles using wires with clips.  This creates an electron bath.  The electrons are healing to the body and help decrease inflammation and produce the secretion of the body's neurotransmitters (like serotonin, dopamine, GABA) which are natural pain relievers.    I also just started a device called Pointoselect Digital.   This works well for ear acupuncture or auriculoacupuncture.  It uses a probe which helps find the exact point which is deficient, identifying issues within the acupuncture channels.   It is a great diagnostic tool that helps make the treatment more effective.    It works for all symptoms, pain syndromes, and more.  I even have a protocol that I use it for to quit smoking!

Do the acupuncture needles hurt?

These are not typical medical needles as we are brought up to fear!   These are tinier than a flu shot needle.  (A flu shot needle is typically a 27 gauge needle, these are 36 and 40 gauge needles).   I use a tube which I press against your skin.  This is a guide tube that you feel me press against your skin.   These tiny needles are nothing in comparison to the needles they use in the lab. Laboratory needles which are used for blood drawing are hollow, larger bore needle so the blood cells are not harmed).

The treatments are worth it!   Try it today.  You won't be sorry.
